Modular scuba tank stand

A scuba tank stand/holder designed to stop cylinders from rolling about when carried in car boots.

Designed for tanks that have a diameter of approximately 188mm. The version included was suitable for a Faber 12L steel tank.

The main holder can be used singly or in pairs on a single cylinder. If you have two or more tanks then the stands have dovetail joints to allow them to be joined end to end to keep the cylinders parallel, An optional link piece is provided that goes between the ends of two holders to maintain them at a fixed spacing. You can use the link pieces at either the single side of a tank or both sides.

The dovetails are sturdy enough for the loads typically experienced when used in a car boot but will readily break if they are loaded in other ways.

The semi-circular recess may be deep enough to prevent the cylinders from jumping out but for added security there is a slot designed to accept straps. The strap hole is 28mm across. If using ratchet straps do not use the mechanism to over tighten the strap as it may cause the stand to fail.

The profiles supplied use a small amount of support for the recess for the strap though you may find the support unnecessary.
