Description

Update 2/28/26: Increased the coaster center slightly to easily allow the artwork plate to sit fully flush with the bottom.

As an 80's kid I have so much nostalgia for cartons and other content from that era.  Since I didn't find existing designs that had what I wanted I tried my hand at a simple design of my own.  I was so happy with how well everything turned out I figured I'd share it with the community.  Hopefully others enjoy my hodgepodge of cartoons, comic book characters, and TV shows.

I designed the coasters to work in a modular fashion.  You print a coaster, then insert the artwork plate of your choice.  The coaster stand is optional, but it's a nice touch if you're gifting this to someone.  The artwork is set on a 100mm x 100mm circle and are 2mm thick.  You simply press the circle into the coaster around the edges to lock it in place.  Additionally, adding a sticky cork pad on the bottom of the coaster and stand really helps to minimize sliding around so easily on a table.

After adding the artwork plate into the coaster you'll notice there is a 1mm lip on the edge.  This is by design.  This is to minimize the chance that moisture buildup will run off the side of the coaster.  Adding a little super glue around the inside corner helps seal off the area between the artwork plate and coaster as well, but again this is completely optional.

NOTE: If you print the Star Fleet Command plate and change any colors around, make sure the color you use for the text is set to print first (my settings take care of this by default).  Since the text is small it may not print properly otherwise.

If you like these, check out my Retro Themed Magnets which are a spinoff of this model.
