Opinel 3.0 One Hand Open is the direct evolution of the previous version. It keeps all the EDC improvements and now adds a thumb stud for one-hand opening, enhancing functionality without losing the traditional Opinel spirit.

This doesn’t turn your Opinel into a tactical knife.
It turns it into a more agile, comfortable, and functional everyday tool.

🔧 Thumb Stud Installation

Simple installation by following these steps:

1. Fully close the blade.
2. Apply a small amount of cyanoacrylate glue inside the thumb stud.
3. Place the stud in its correct position on the blade, centered with the cutout in the handle.
4. After positioning it, open the blade and keep it open until the glue fully cures.

⚠️ Opening the blade after installation prevents any excess glue from accidentally bonding the blade to the handle.

If any glue residue remains around the stud, it can be carefully removed by gently scraping it with a utility knife or similar tool.

The stud position aligns with the small cavities of the Opinel crown engraving. That slight surface irregularity, combined with the internal micro-serration of the stud, helps create a strong and stable bond.

The No.8 version has been used for several months during field work, printed in PLA Plus, without any issues.

No detachment.
No breakage.

I recommend using my printing profile, optimized through multiple test prints to achieve:

• ✔ Accurate dimensions
• ✔ Tight fit
• ✔ Proper durability
• ✔ Minimal supports that are easy to remove

The profile is tuned to generate only the necessary supports, making post-processing easier without compromising strength or finish.

Proper bed adhesion is essential for the best result.
