Description

💀 R.I.P. – Roots In Progress

A compact, soil-less sprouter disguised as a single grave. Water wicks up to a perforated nest where seeds germinate under a cracked-land cover; once they sprout, the cover stores under the base and the tombstone relocates to sit within the greens.

📦 Parts

  • Tombstone – used as label surface + handle for the cover or nest
  • Container (Base) – water reservoir with drain hole marks
  • Cover – cracked-land texture; clips over the nest during germination
  • Nest (Seed Insert) – perforated tray for seeds/wicking

🖨️ Print Instructions

  • Material: PLA
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm (0.16 mm for crisper lettering).
  • Supports: required for tombstone, container (bottom ledge), and cover (under-lips).
  • Tips: small tree supports on tombstone;

✨ Features

  1. Cracked-land cover: during germination it darkens/light-blocks and the tombstone snaps on top to act as a handle.
  2. Clean growth mode: when sprouts are up, cover stacks under the container for storage; tombstone moves to the nest so it’s framed by greens on all sides.
  3. Writable label: blank area on the tombstone to mark “chia”, “radish”, “lentil”, etc. (use paint marker or dry-erase).

🔧 How to use

  1. Fill water in the container to the drain/level marks.
  2. Place the nest, spread seeds evenly, and mist to wet the surface.
  3. Close with the cover and mount the tombstone on top.
  4. Mist daily and follow your seed’s light/moisture requirements.
  5. When grown, remove the cover and stack it under the base; move the tombstone to the nest post.

🌿 Functional Notes

  • Soil-less wicking keeps seeds uniformly moist; no standing water on top.
  • Works well with chia, basil, radish, mustard, alfalfa, and lentils.
  • Clean-up: rinse nest under running water; let parts dry between runs.
