Description
GSM-R Radio Mast with System Technology Container
This model depicts a GSM-R transmission mast, as used along modern railway lines for digital train radio communication. The set consists of the mast with antennas and the associated technical housing.
The Function:
GSM-R is an international standard for railway mobile communication. In contrast to public mobile communication, this network is exclusively for railway operations. Important driving commands, emergency calls, and data for the ETCS (European Train Control System) train protection system are transmitted via these masts. Without these radio masts, modern high-speed rail traffic (ICE/TGV) would not be possible.
I would be happy to see pictures of the model on your model railway. That and a boost or two would encourage me to publish more models :)
The antenna must be glued - but it doesn't hurt for the other parts either. Since the mast is printed lying down, a little bit of sanding may be necessary for finishing.
