Iron Mike Statue WWII Paratrooper (Ft Bragg)

This model is a detailed replica of the iconic “Iron Mike” monument located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Dedicated to the U.S. Army Paratroopers of World War II, this statue stands as a symbol of the "All American" spirit and the bravery of those who served.

The Story Behind the Model

This project was born out of a personal mission. Upon my exit from the Army, I was gifted an Iron Mike statue that, unfortunately, was later broken. Unable to find a suitable replacement, I decided to recreate it. While I have made minor adjustments to the geometry to ensure it is optimized for 3D printing, it remains a near-exact replica of the original monument.

Print Recommendations

To capture the intricate details of the paratrooper’s gear and expression, I recommend the following settings:

• Layer Height: 0.16mm provides an excellent balance between print time and detail. For maximum fidelity, consider 0.12mm or using Adaptive Layer Height (Especially if you scale it down)
• Supports: Essential. Please note at smaller scale, supports around the hands and weapon can be  challenging to remove. 
• Material: I have achieved excellent results using PLA Matte and PLA Basic.

Scaling Notes

The model is easily scalable. However, be mindful that as you scale down, the thin features (like the weapon barrel) become significantly more fragile.
