Forged by a god, foretold by a wizard, found by a king.

Many replicas of "Excalibur" are on the market but none close enough to this incredible film! And that's a real shame.

So I set about this task. Filling the void.

In this work, I am fortunate to be able to rely on Darksword Armory's forged and sharpened version.

However, they took some creative liberties regarding the pommel, grip, and guard.

So I based my design on the precise dimensions of the D.A. version (length, thickness, weight, width, etc.) while redesigning the handle to be as close as possible to the original! The one, the true one!

Although made of PLA, I wanted this sword to be as faithful as possible to a real sword.

However, choices had to be made.

The blade is a maximum of 18 mm thick, compared to 12 mm for a sharpened version. But this allows for the introduction of a 10mmx4mmx1000mm flat iron bar.

This flat iron bar allows for:

  • blade elasticity
  • handle attachment using the traditional method (fitting the guard, then the grip, and finally the pommel)
  • weight for added authenticity

However, unlike an original, I did not want the blade (flat iron bar) to protrude from the pommel. Traditionally, the pommel is pushed on, then the end is hammered to secure the assembly. Instead, I strongly recommend epoxy resin rather than glue.

The sword thus weighs 700 grams compared to 1200g in the D.A. version.

It thus weighs like a one-handed sword, yet possesses the dimensions of a hand-and-a-half sword.

The print is configured for the absolute minimum support. However, the guard, pommel, and grip have a very high infill percentage, the sole purpose of which is to balance the entire assembly! The center of gravity as close as possible to the handle.

Please, don't forget, when your work is finished, to return it to the Lady of the Lake! For this, you will need to find a body of water, a river, an ocean...!

Sorry but bathtubs, that doesn't work ;-)

Now be the smiths of your own happiness!

To accompany Excalibur, Elendil's helmet will be a magnificent addition!
