Update 02.03.2026:
A variant for 75 mm hose diameter is now also available.

For my camper based on a Mercedes Sprinter W906, I had to mount the Autoterm 2D auxiliary heater under the vehicle due to space constraints. It sits in the special underfloor box at the location of the original cargo area auxiliary heater. I continue to use the two existing openings of the original – the intake side at the front, and the hot air side at the rear.

This adapter allows the intake air to be cleanly connected via the front original opening. It fits not only the Autoterm 2D, but also all auxiliary heaters with 60 mm hose diameter. A variant for 75 mm also exists, but has not yet been tested.

The intake manifold is printed from PETG, which is completely sufficient for use under the vehicle.

Important:
Only use for the intake side!
The hot air side reaches temperatures at which PLA melts – and even PETG cannot withstand this permanently (self-tested). For the hot air opening, there is a separate component, made of ABS, which I will link later.

For fastening, the original clip solution was too insecure for me. At the front, I use the original screw, at the back a self-tapping screw (approx. 4 mm). It is sealed and additionally fixed with body adhesive / Sikaflex or similar.

Print profiles (2 variants):

  1. Profile with support structure only for the circumferential edge
    • Very efficient
    • Little material & short print time
    • Inner surface of the nozzle becomes less clean, but:
      no impairment of function
  2. Profile with full tree support structure
    • Nice, clean inner surface
    • Significantly more material
    • Longer print time
    • Advantageous if aesthetics are important

Print recommendation:

  • Material: PETG (recommended for underfloor mounting)
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Infill: 20–30 %
  • Supports: Only if needed depending on orientation

Special features:

  • Suitable for Autoterm 2D & other 60 mm auxiliary heaters
  • Optimized for Sprinter W906 underfloor installation
  • Only suitable for the intake side
  • Simple, secure screw fastening instead of clips
  • PETG for weather resistance
