š¦ Description Template (Refined Version)
This model is a remix of the original 3D Benchy by CreativeTools, created to evaluate and compare filament performance before and after full calibration.
The goal is to analyze how planar surfaces, overhangs, bridges, arches and fine details improve once a filament is properly tuned. As you can see below i have tested a bunch of diferent filaments.

This profile reflects my complete calibration workflow using a Bambu Lab P1P (now upgraded to a P1S) with a 0.4mm nozzle.

āļø Note About Bambu PLA Silk+
For this specific model, the filament used is Bambu Lab PLA Silk+.
Bambu Lab filaments are extremely well calibrated from the factory, and their official material profiles inside Bambu Studio are already highly optimized for reliability, extrusion stability, and surface quality.
Because of that, I did not perform additional filament calibration for this PLA Silk+.
Instead, I used the official Bambu PLA Silk+ material profile and combined it with my personal Benchy print settings ā the same print strategy I use across all my Benchy tests, which I consider my highest quality configuration.
This combination demonstrates very clearly how well Bambu PLA Silk+ performs out of the box, especially in terms of:
⢠Surface gloss
⢠Smooth top layers
⢠Clean layer transitions
⢠Overall visual refinement
Silk materials are slightly more sensitive to excessive speed and over-extrusion, so maintaining controlled flow and stable print conditions is essential to preserve the glossy finish.
The result highlights the premium aesthetic quality of this material when paired with a properly refined profile. It is definitely one of my favorite materials when visual appearance is the main priority.
š¬ About Calibration
For Bambu filaments, I generally trust the official profiles, as they are already very refined and extensively tested.
However, if you are using third-party filaments, I strongly recommend following the calibration workflow described above.
I invested significant time researching and testing different calibration methods to determine:
⢠What is truly necessary
⢠What improves print quality
⢠What is not worth spending time on
The workflow described in this profile is efficient, practical and produces very consistent results.
If you are using other brands, I encourage you to check the calibrated profiles available on my page and follow the same methodology ā it works extremely well.
š My Calibration Workflow
1ļøā£ Manufacturer Baseline Review
I always begin by checking the manufacturer's website and packaging for recommended:
- Print temperature
- Bed temperature
- Cooling settings
- Speed recommendations
(Manufacturer websites are usually the most up-to-date and reliable source.)
2ļøā£ Initial Benchy Print
I print this Benchy using the base profile provided here to establish a performance reference.

From the photos you can visually see clear under extrusion in the Before and it is also possible to see the smooth surface of the rear deck of the boat in the After.
3ļøā£ Temperature Tower TestĀ š”
I print a temperature tower specific to the material.
From this test, I select the temperature that provides the best balance between overhangs, stringiness and surface quality.

4ļøā£ Maximum Volumetric Flow TestĀ š
For high-speed materials (for example PETG Rapid), I run a maximum volumetric flow test and adjust the value accordingly.
ā If the manufacturer does NOT advertise high-speed capability, I recommend keeping the default value ā even if tests suggest an increase of +5ā6 mm³/s.
That margin usually represents the safety buffer designed to ensure consistent and reliable printing.

5ļøā£ Flow Dynamics CalibrationĀ ā
Using the built-in calibration tools in Bambu Studio, I fine-tune flow dynamics to improve extrusion consistency and corner behavior.

6ļøā£ Flow Rate CalibrationĀ šÆ
Finally, I perform a flow rate calibration using the Bambu Studio calibration menu to achieve optimal extrusion accuracy.

Bambu provides an excellent guide explaining how to properly analyze calibration results here:

šø Additional Calibrated Profiles
On my profile, you can find other calibrated Benchy models where I share:
⢠Tested print settings
  ⢠Optimized temperatures
  ⢠Flow adjustments
  ⢠Volumetric limits
⢠Real print photos
⢠Final recommendations for that filament
All profiles are tested and calibrated on my machine. They are optimized for Bambu Lab printers, and in many cases may also work well on other printers with similar hardware and setup.
