Description
The community has created some incredible, creative solutions for the Snapmaker U1 enclosure. However, most are quite bulky and require significant time and material.
Born out of a need to finish a project with a nearly empty roll of PETG, this enclosure is optimized for speed and efficiency without sacrifices. It uses 2–3x less filament than other designs and prints in a single afternoon.
This model is inspired by the Top Cover by Beaver Works.
Features
- Fast: Under 6 hours total print time.
- Lightweight: Uses less than 250g of filament.
- Simple: Single-plate print with zero supports required.
- IKEA SAMLA Compatible: Designed specifically for the 45L SAMLA bin system.
Recommended Print Settings
To get the best result, I recommend the following:
- Material: The use of PETG is recommended due to its thermal resistance and superior bed adhesion.
- Adhesion: I suggest using "mouse ears" (small brim disks) at the corners. This helps prevent warping on the thin base.
- Assembly: Use a small amount of glue to securely bond the parts together once printed.
