German
- A friend came to me and showed me the old lid of her favorite kettle. She is very attached to this faithful/expensive everyday companion.
- After many years of use, the two pins on the holder that allowed the lid to swing open and closed were badly worn. The lid always fell into the pot when opened.
- You can buy replacement parts for this appliance, except for... the lid.
- So should you just buy a new appliance? What's more, designer experiments like this remain expensive even after years.
- So, with a lot of love, I created a detailed and extremely functional replacement solution.
Visually, there is only one difference on the inside of the lid. To allow condensation to drain off more easily, there is a slight curve, and you can see the “contour lines” of the individual layers. On the original, this surface is smooth.
- 3D printing
- Support is needed for the narrow overhangs, the pins, and the rectangular opening. To prevent warping, I have defined a continuous skirt. Everything is included in the 3mf file.
Additionally, I have reduced the speed to 50% (quiet mode).
- Material
- The model must remain dimensionally stable even at 100°C. That's why I chose ASA.
