This bust depicts Christopher Columbus, the 15th-century Genoese navigator whose transatlantic expeditions profoundly changed world history. Based on the most widely recognized iconography of the character, it is directly inspired by the portrait considered the most popular representation of the explorer.

The sculpture highlights Columbus’ characteristic features: the elongated face, determined gaze, and distinctive hair framing the forehead — elements that became iconic in collective imagination. The interpretation emphasizes clear volumes and strong planes to create a solid sculptural presence suitable for 3D printing.

A central figure of the Age of Discovery, Christopher Columbus set sail westward in 1492 under the patronage of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain. Believing he would reach Asia across the Atlantic Ocean, he instead landed in the Americas, opening a new era of exchanges between Europe and the New World.
