IKEA SKÅDIS Universal Tool Holder Generator
Fully Customizable Parametric Holder
This model is a fully parametric, user-configurable tool holder generator engineered specifically for the IKEA SKÅDIS pegboard system. Designed in Fusion 360 using structured parameters and feature-driven modeling, the holder geometry can be modified to accommodate a wide range of tools and storage requirements without redesigning the part.
The model is driven entirely by user-defined parameters, enabling controlled geometric variation while maintaining structural integrity and proper SKÅDIS mounting alignment. In short, If it can hang on a SKÅDIS board, then you can probably design a holder for it with this tool.
Core Customization Options

Shape Control
- Square / Round Switch – Instantly switch between circular or rectangular holder profiles.
Size Parameters
- Width
- Length
- Height
- Wall Thickness
Dial in precise dimensions to perfectly fit your tool.
Functional Adjustments
- Offset – Adjust how far the holder sits from the mount.
- Inner Fillet – Add internal corner fillets for smoother transitions.
- Taper Angle – Adds an inward draft to interior walls, useful for friction retention and easier insertion.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: If you set the angle too steep you can break the model generator and need to refresh and start over
- Floor Switch - Enables or disables a bottom surface.
- ON: Creates a closed-bottom container
- OFF: Generates a pass-through holder
- Cutout Switch – Enable a front access cutout.
- Cutout Angle – Control the size/angle of the front cutout.
- Offset Mount Switch – Offset the mounting dovetail to align cleanly with adjacent SKÅDIS pegboard rows.
Skadis Mounting Clip
Credit goes to MaxLayers for coming up with a great universal, open source Ikea Skadis hook design. Please be sure to check out their models!
To add, to Max's mount I designed a double hook mount for taller holders. This mount is incredibly strong and gives a very satisfying “click” when inserted. There is a separate print profile for the different mounting clips with my recommended print settings.
It is important to print the hook as a separate object to allow for printing flat on the bed, maximizing strength of the hook. The hook is friction fit and can be permanently installed with some CA glue.
Material Selection / Print Settings
Tool Holder Bodies
- Tool Holders can be printed in most materials, though I do recommend PETG because it has a bit more flex than PLA and has stronger layer adhesion in my opinion.
- Standard 0.4mm nozzle with 0.2mm profiles should work fine. There is no support needed and no special geometry worth noting.
Mounting Clip
- Mounting clips SHOULD be printed in PETG only. While you can certainly print them in PLA, The stress of inserting them into the pegboard over and over will cause them to fail much quicker.
- Ensure clips are laying on their flat sides for best orientation of layer lines and mazimum strength.
- Consider using my dedicated print profile for the clips as there are a few tweaks in their so that they print strong.
- 3-4 wall loops
- 5 bottom shell layers
- 25% Gyroid infill
