BASALTIC – The Sculptural Lava Stone Lamp
High-End Design Meets Maker Ingenuity
Bring luxury design to your 3D printer. Inspired by the iconic CADEN table lamp by Kalin Asenov, I designed this functional sculpture to make high-end aesthetics accessible to every maker. Thanks to the specific Fuzzy Skin texture, this lamp achieves a deceptively real lava stone look that pushes 3D printing to a new level.
Design Highlights
- Warm Glow Technology: The lampshade is intentionally opaque. The light reflects off the inner surface. Pro Tip: Print the interior in Gold Silk to create an incredibly warm, luxurious ambient glow.
- Stunning Texture: The combination of matte filaments and Fuzzy Skin hides layer lines almost completely.
- Perfect Fit: Specifically developed for the Bambu Lab Hardware Kit 001 (LED component).
Technical Details & Print Settings
The lamp consists of 3 main parts that are designed for an easy snap-fit assembly.
- Dimensions: approx. 30 cm height.
- Bed Requirements: Minimum 200x200 mm (not suitable for A1 Mini).
- Filament Consumption: approx. 1100 g (including supports/prime tower).
- Matte Black: approx. 780 g
- Gold Silk (or bright colors): approx. 330 g
- Print Time: approx. 1 day and 22 hours (optimized profile).
Essential Settings for the Lava Look:
To achieve the look shown in the photos, use the following Fuzzy Skin values for the base and the shade:
- Point Distance: 0.3 mm
- Thickness: 1.0 mm
Assembly Instructions
- Printing: Use the provided .3mf file for ideal orientation and settings.
- LED Kit: Insert the Bambu Lab Kit 001 into the designated holder. The cable is routed cleanly through the main body to the bottom.
- Assembly: The parts are designed to be stacked. For permanent stability, I recommend a drop of superglue at the connection points.
- Reflection Check: Do not use black for the inside of the shade, as it will absorb all light. Gold, silver, or white work best for a beautiful reflection!
