Full Drip Tray Scale Adapter for Decent Espresso (HDS)

This 3D-printed adapter is designed specifically for the Half Decent Scale (HDS) and the Decent DE1Pro (and compatible models). It acts as a stable housing that sits on top of the scale and supports the standard drip tray. This allows the entire drip tray to function as the weighing surface, keeping your workspace clean and minimalistic and allowing you to purge water without any issues.

Key Features

Whole-Tray Weighing: You can place your cup anywhere on the drip tray to get a reading.
Holds the drip tray about 1.5mm above the metal legs, it still fits.
Includes a cutout for the USB-C port, allowing you to charge the scale without removing the adapter.

⚠️ Important Usage Instructions (Read Before Use)

To ensure your shots are weighed accurately, proper positioning is critical:

When sliding the drip tray and scale assembly into place, push it back until it touches the back of the machine, and then pull it forward about 1mm.
Avoid Contact: The drip tray must not touch the metal body of the espresso machine. If it touches, the friction will result in inaccurate weight readings.
Height scaling: My DE1Pro legs are exactly 50.57mm tall (see picture below). The print allows the tray to hover ~1.5mm above the legs when it sits on the scale. You might have to scale along the z-axis of the print if your machine sits higher/lower.

A Note on Shot Weight & Purging

When using this setup, you are weighing the entire contents of the drip tray, not just the cup.

During the shot the machine will accurately weigh the espresso liquid and stop the shot at your programmed weight (e.g., 36g).
After the shot, the Decent DE1Pro automatically purges excess water into the drip tray.
As a Result, you will see the weight on the scale increase after the shot is finished. This is normal. Your espresso extraction was stopped at the correct weight; the additional weight displayed is simply the waste water entering the tray.
