Description

I modelled this Senet board for my English and Humanities colleague at school, as their students are currently learning about Ancient Egyptian culture. I thought it would be much more meaningful if they could actually see and interact with one of the objects they are studying, rather than only viewing it in textbooks.

Senet (also spelled Senat) is one of the oldest known board games, played in Ancient Egypt over 3,000 years ago. This model is based on the Gaming Board Inscribed for Amenhotep III with Separate Sliding Drawer (ca. 1390–1353 B.C.E.), which is now held in the Brooklyn Museum. I recreated the same square markings and kept the proportions as close to the original artifact as possible. You can see the original artifact here:

The board is designed so that it can be printed in multiple colours without requiring an AMS. Simply set a pause in your slicer after the base finishes printing, swap to a different filament, and then resume the print.
