🇫🇷 Description (French)
This bust depicts Jean Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud, inspired by the poet's most popular photograph, taken by Étienne Carjat in 1871, where his clear and piercing gaze seems to defy the world with an almost provocative intensity. The frontal posture highlights the youthful face, contrasting with the maturity and radical nature of his work.
The features are faithfully respected: a still youthful facial oval, thin and closed lips, a fixed gaze imbued with boldness and detachment. The volumes are deliberately emphasized to highlight the structure of the forehead, cheekbones, and chin, conveying both the apparent fragility and inner strength of the poet. The simplicity of the bust reinforces the expressive power of the gaze, a central element of his iconography.
A dazzling figure in French poetry, Rimbaud revolutionized literature in just a few years. Author of The Drunken Boat, Illuminations, and A Season in Hell, he overturned traditional forms, explored nascent symbolism, and advocated for a visionary poetry based on the derangement of the senses. His passionate and tumultuous relationship with Paul Verlaine helped forge his legend. At barely twenty years old, he abandoned poetry for a life of adventures and travels, leaving behind a brief but foundational work.
This 3D Printed bust pays homage to this mythical and elusive figure, capturing the rebellious intensity and depth of gaze that define his most famous portrait.
