Description

Converts USB type A (male) :

to USB type C (male):

It is basically an USB to USB C cable but shortened, and I use it for programming microcontrollers with an USB C port instead of having a long wire on my desk.

Materials needed:

  • USB type A plug (I cut a broken USB wire and cut all the silicone/plastic away to get my plug):

  • USB type C plug:

  • Soldering materials, optionally superglue and hot glue
  • 3d printed case (There are two versions, one with a hole for an LED as my USB C plug has one, and one without a hole for the LED)

Assembly:

Solder the legs of the USB type A plug onto the pads of the USB type C plug, matching +(VCC) to +, D+ to D+, D- to D-, and GND to GND

You can use the bare part photo as an reference

Then, take the bottom half of the case and push the soldered part inside the case and align it, you may need to push it a little:

Finally, you can snap on the top piece, making sure that the pin and hole align. You can also add some hot glue in the top piece as there is extra space to further strengthen it, and you can add superglue around the perimeter to make it stronger.

Feel free to comment if it doesn't work or you need help and I will most likely respond.

Boost Me (for free)

It would be greatly appreciated if you boost as this took a lot of time to figure out, and I need a better printer
