Description

Hi guys,

I own(ed) a Turtlebeach Vulcan II Pro TKL and loved the Hall Effect functionality. The years before I was using low profile mechanical keyboards like the Keychron K3 and at work I am used to a Magic Keyboard. The small and curved keycaps on the Turtle Beach with a lot of space inbetween kinda threw me off.

Iv'e seen a lot of keycaps on here and other websites, but very few offer shine through lettering, especially when it comes to a German ISO layout.
So I designed my own, that give me back a little of that low profile feeling.

Compatibility

If you have a Turtlebeach Vulcan with ISO-German layout, you're good to go.

Elsewise, you probably have to adapt the design to fit your keyboard.

I designed the stem to fit perfectly on the full size Gateron hall-effect switches, to give it maximum stability. It probably won't work on every switch, especially low profile switches. Test it before printing the whole set. Also feel free to remix this design to fit your own keyboard.

The lettering is cutout only. So if you're printing it in other, darker colors, make sure to test the shine-through capability of your filament at 2 layers (each 0.10mm).

If you have an AMS, you could print the letterinmg in white/translucent, while the rest is the colour of your choice. Just make sure, to switch the lettering type to modifiers and lower it all the way to the plate itself.

The layout is ISO only, I don't have an ANSI layout keyboard next to me, so I can' measure the dimensions. If you need ANSI, you need to adapt the design.

The stabilisers on the bigger caps are also MX-style. Older keyboards (like my Keychron K3 used different stabiliser attachements). Make sure those are aligned and the correct shape.

Fit and finish

I used Bambulab White PLA Matte, as i had that laying around and I quite like the finish and touch of that specific filament. I know that it isn't as long lasting as ABS or PETG. Adapt to your needs.

I used the 0.2mm nozzle, to have maximum precision, especially when it comes to the stem. I had other prints rip my switches apart, because I could't detach the printed keycap from the switch.

So your miles may vary depending on the nozzle and material used. Be cautious.

Also make sure, that the infill is at a 100%. Otherwise the infill pattern will shine through.

Still hope you like the design :)
