Description

The M 131.1 series railcars (administratively designated as the 801 series since 1 January 1988), nicknamed Hurvínek, are two-axle railway passenger railcars that were manufactured between 1948 and 1956 at the Tatra Kopřivnice and Vagónka Studénka plants. A total of 549 of these cars were manufactured, which were intended for passenger rail transport on the ČSD lines in the then Czechoslovakia. In operation in the 1970s and 1980s, they were replaced by the M 152.0 series railcars; until their delivery, the M 131.1 series was the most widespread series of ČSD railcars. Currently, they are no longer in regular service, some of the M 131.1 series cars are preserved as historical operational vehicles.
