This is a remix of the original
“Intel NUC 12 Pro Innodisk EGPL-T101 cover and accessory port kit”, adapted to fit a FENVI 10GbE module based on the Marvell AQC113 chipset.
I built this because I wanted a small, quiet and power-efficient home lab NUC with proper high-speed networking – without ugly external adapters or open cases.
What does this mod do?
This mod lets you add 10Gb Ethernet (RJ45) to your Intel NUC 12 or 13 Pro, fully integrated into the case.
Tested and confirmed compatible with:
- ✅ Intel NUC 13 Pro (tested, verion ANH/i7)
- ✅ Intel NUC 12 Pro (original model)
Why the Marvell AQC113?
The Marvell AQC113 is the newer generation of the AQC107 and even a much better choice than older Intel 10GbE controllers:
- Very low power consumption (~3.5 W idle)
- Supports 2.5 GbE and 5 GbE, not just 1G / 10G
(works perfectly over standard CAT5e cables) - Uses PCIe 4.0 x1 or PCIe 3.0 x2, saving PCIe lanes
- Runs cooler and quieter – ideal for compact systems like NUCs
Works out of the box with:
- ESXi
- Windows
- Drivers for Proxmox are not yet available
Printed parts
This remix consists of separate printable parts:
- Bottom cover replacement
- Replaces the original NUC bottom cover (including the 2.5" SATA bracket)
- Includes a honeycomb fan grille for extra airflow
- Designed for an optional 40×40×10 mm 5V fan (e.g. Noctua)
- Fan power can be taken from the internal header
(Pin 8 = GND, Pin 9 = 5V - PINOUT is here) - Uses M2.5 Screws and the PLA+TPU-Feet (its optional, you might still use the original feet from the nuc lid)
- Accessory port plate
- Holds the RJ45 socket/pcb of the FENVI AQC113 module
- Requires:
- 2× M2.5 nuts
- Original Intel NUC accessory screws, or other matching ones
- 2× M2.5 screws to mount the Ethernet module, included by the module
- The RJ45 connector sits tightly in a cradle behind the plate for a clean fit
- Feet (4x)
- Could be used if not using the original feets
- Uses a long M3 screw
- Two materials
- PLA (inside portion)
- TPU (rubber like feet)
I intentionally kept this as separate parts so both can be printed flat on the build plate – less support, better print quality.
Notes
- This is a mechanical remix, you should check the module before printing it.
- No electronics, firmware or drivers included
- Make sure your NUC matches your Ethernet module/m.2 slot
- The ZBT-2 Holder on top was recently created, I uploaded it on makerworld
