The "Mud Mauler": Monster Truck Pickup

Here is a rugged pickup-style Monster Truck, ready to dominate the roughest terrains (of your desk!).

This model has been carefully designed to be printed easily and assembled without glue. The main body and suspension are printed in one piece, while the four massive wheels are snap-fit. The best feature? No supports needed! The design is optimized to handle overhangs without issues.

⚙ Recommended Print Settings

These are the settings used for the model in the photos, tested to ensure the best balance between strength and printability:

  • Material: PLA (Standard PLA is recommended, do not use Silk PLA, as standard PLA offers better layer adhesion and mechanical strength for the snap-fit joints).

  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm

  • Infill: 15% (sufficient for the necessary sturdiness).

  • Walls/Perimeters: 3 (essential to make the wheel axles solid).

  • Supports: NO. The model is specifically designed to be printed without them.


⚠ ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (IMPORTANT)

The wheel attachment system is designed to be very tight and durable; therefore, installation requires a bit of force.

To install the wheels: You must place two fingers firmly against the hub (the part of the axle attached to the frame) to support it, and then use your other hand to push the wheel firmly until it snaps into place. (Please refer to the attached photo, which shows the exact hand position required for this operation).


✅ NOTE ON TOLERANCES AND FUNCTIONALITY

The tolerances between the axle pins and the wheel holes have been meticulously tested and printed multiple times. They are calculated so that, once you get past the initial snap-fit, the wheels spin freely and perfectly.

Everything works flawlessly using the print profiles and parameters listed above, which I have personally tested.
