Base recipe for 5-6 bathing bombs:
- 250 g baking soda
- 125 g citric acid (powder)
- 60 g cornstarch
- 60 g coconut oil (organic quality recommended)
- Essential oils or fragrance oils (optional)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Dried herbs, teas, or flower petals (optional)
Notes on Ingredients
- Baking soda and citric acid are commonly used as mild household cleaners and are easily available in powder form.
- Coconut oil solidifies when cool and provides a nourishing skin feel.
- Alternatively, cocoa butter, shea butter, or cosmetic oils can be used — but they may result in softer bath bombs.
Important Disclaimer
Even though I’m a maker, I am not a cosmetic professional. Please choose ingredients that are individually suitable for you and your family, especially when using essential oils or colorants. Always check skin compatibility and consult a professional if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
After bathing, be aware that the bathtub may become slippery due to the coconut oil or other fats used. Rinse the tub thoroughly to avoid slipping.
How to Use the Bathing Bomb Maker
- Mix all dry ingredients thoroughly.
- Gently melt the coconut oil and combine with the dry mixture.
- Add fragrance, color, or botanical elements as desired.
- Lightly fill both halves of the mold. The filling aid (opional part, not shown in the model image) will help if needed so the mixture will not get stuck in the groove of the mold.
- Press firmly together using the Bathing Bomb Maker.
- Remove carefully and allow to dry for 24–48 hours.
That’s it — your handmade spa experience is ready.
