Description

Hey everyone, I designed this because I wanted a portable sensor bar to play Wii games on my laptop because the original one has a proprietary connector

It’s super small, works perfectly with a standard USB-C cable (like your phone charger), and you can easily throw it in your backpack.

How to make it: I used some cheap parts from AliExpress (links below). It’s not too hard to solder, but the space is a bit tight, so take your time.

  • LEDs: You need 6x 940nm IR LEDs. I put 3 on the left and 3 on the right.
  • Resistor: I recommend using a 22 ohm or 33 ohm resistor to keep the LEDs bright but safe running off 5V USB.
  • Assembly: Just solder the USB-C connector to the LEDs (2 parallel groups of 3 LEDs in series).

Tip: Since this is meant to be portable, I filled the inside with a bit of hot glue before snapping the case shut. This keeps the electronics from moving around and makes the whole thing super durable if you drop it.

Parts I used:

Happy gaming!
