Description
The koru (Māori for 'loop or coil') is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fern frond. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Its shape "conveys the idea of perpetual movement," while the inner coil "suggests returning to the point of origin".
The 15cm Koru prints on its side, while the vase itself prints inverted. Separate profiles are needed as the vase requires a small brim to allow for proper adhesion, which would be a lot of unnecessary work for the Koru which has plenty of surface contact to print without needing a brim. There may be a little bit of loose filament at the top of the vase cutouts in the Koru and at the bottom of the vase, this is completely normal and does not require tidying but you're more than welcome to if it bothers you.
Please note that this vase is not water tight but can be if you coat the inner surface of the vase with wax or epoxy.
