Description

This design is for an expandable length cable chain designed for standing desks (or other objects that move). I've built the design to be sturdy, not too large but large enough to allow for most standard cables (HDMI, Displayport, USB, etc.) to go from the devices up to the desktop. The design contains the main chain link which can be printed for as many as you need to grow the length of the chain, as well as a adjustable desk mount and an end-cap to clean up the end of the chain.

The desk mount, screws and end-cap will utilize 66g of filament and have minor support requirements.

Each of the links utilize 24g of filament and does require supports, but they come off quite easily using my print profile.

I printed the complete design using Numakers PLA+ and found it to be plenty sturdy, however you will want to be sure to use care when assembling the links as I have made the tolerances snug to ensure proper link stability. Gently easing the male end of the link into the tabs of the second link and then sliding them together to connect works well.  You may want to avoid Matte & Silk PLA as it breaks much easier at the tabs.  PETG would work well too.  You can also warm up the tabs a bit with a small torch or hair dryer to make them more pliable before snapping clips together.

Hope you enjoy the make if you choose to do so, thanks for looking!
