G-Jet Lock: Secure Extension Protector for AMT Gastric-Jejunal Tubes

Need the single lock version, use this link:: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2675721-single-g-jet-lock-no-slip-tpu-tubing-lock#profileId-2962402

Detailed Description

Living with a feeding tube presents enough challenges without the constant worry of accidental disconnections. This G-Jet Lock is a precision-engineered, 3D-printed safety device specifically designed for the AMT G-JET® Low Profile Gastric-Jejunal Enteral Feeding Tube.

The model features a snap-fit, ergonomic "clamshell" design that encases the connection point between the button and the extension sets. It is designed to be low-profile and smooth to the touch to prevent snagging on clothing or irritating the skin. Each side is reinforced to ensure that even during sleep, physical activity, or "tug-of-war" from curious little hands, the extensions stay firmly locked into the Gastric and Jejunal ports.

Functional Use & Application

This device is a functional lock. To use it:

  1. Connect your G and J extension sets to the AMT G-JET button as normal.
  2. Place the bottom half of the lock under the connection site.
  3. Snap the top portion (featuring the heart-shaped reinforcement) over the extensions.
  4. The lock physically prevents the extension "feet" from rotating or pulling upwards, which is the primary cause of messy and frustrating disconnections.

Note: This is a comfort and security aid. Always ensure you can still access your ports quickly if needed.

History & Development

The inspiration for this design comes directly from the "Tubie" community. Standard medical extension sets rely on a friction-fit and a small twist-lock mechanism that can easily wear down over time or become slick with use. After seeing families resort to medical tape or bulky DIY solutions that leave sticky residue on expensive buttons, I developed this sleek, reusable mechanical lock. It was designed to provide peace of mind for parents of "Tubie" kids and adult users who lead active lifestyles.

Remix Potential & Alternative Uses

While specifically sized for the AMT G-JET, this design logic can be easily remixed!

  • Keywords for Remixers: Mic-Key Button Lock, Medical Tubing Clip, Extension Stabilizer, Enteral Feeding Safety.
  • Other Uses: This "dual-port locking" geometry can be adapted for any dual-line system, such as cable management for specialized electronics or pneumatic hose organization. If you need to keep two parallel tubes from rotating or disconnecting, this CAD framework is your best starting point.

Keywords: AMT G-Jet, G-Tube, J-Tube, Feeding Tube, Tubie, Medical Accessory, Extension Lock, Gastric-Jejunal, Low Profile Button, Disability Aid, Chronic Illness, Functional Print.

Love this, would like to see one for an AMT MiniONE. Just the idea deserves a boost or two.
