Description
This is a stable rope pulley with PTFE plain bearing and two different holders.
One holder is for wall or ceiling mounting, the other holder is intended for suspension using a shackle or rope.
The wheel is designed for rope diameters up to 10mm.
The wheel is supported by an inner bearing cage into which short pieces of PTFE tubing with a 4mm outer diameter are inserted.
Commercially available PTFE tubing with a 4mm outer diameter (which is usually used for filament feeding) can be used.
The PTFE parts serve to minimize friction when the wheel rotates, so the wheel runs very smoothly even under load.
Assembly:
- Cut PTFE tubes to width and clip them into the bearing cage
- Place the wheel onto the bearing and then insert both into the holder
- Insert an M5x35 screw as an axle and fasten it with a washer and nut. The screw can be tightened to a stop, as the inner bearing cage does not rotate with it.
Note: The arrangement of the holders on the print bed should be maintained as set in the print profile. In this orientation, the layer planes are not perpendicular to the load direction, which reduces the risk of the component breaking along the layer plane under load.
The holders are designed asymmetrically so that printing in this position is possible without supports.
I recommend printing in ABS, for outdoor use in ASA, or for higher loads with GF/or CF-filament.
The pulleys are quite stable and can withstand considerable loads, but the load capacity of the pulley naturally depends heavily on the filament used and the print quality. Therefore, you must test for yourself whether the stability is sufficient for your application.
