Description
My version of Gerson Boom's hammer from the sprite based Deltarune game.
A cosplay weapon I made for my son. Simple in principle but a difficult print due to the size. Please don't attempt this unless you are an experienced printer, familiar with the slicer settings, it's expensive in time and material to get wrong and may need adjustments and configuration for your specific printer.
This stands 4ft / 120cm tall and my version (including a broom handle for strength) weighs in at 5lbs / 2kg.
You will need some sort of central core for the handle (at least 1m long), the screw joins and PLA material will not be string enough for the full weight of the head. All shaft pieces include a configurable negative cylinder that you MUST size to the diameter of your support. I used a 115cm broom handle at 24mm diameter which is what the negative cylinders are currently sized at.
Alter the walls and infill to your choosing but be mindful of the weight!). I highly recommend a suitable interface material should be used for supports in the hammer head piece as it prints the void horizontally. You will need a long tool to break these out and remove them and without an easy release this could prove difficult. The print profile includes setup for PLA support material on AMS. If you are going to print in a single material, do so at your own risk.
Layer height can be increased to shorted print times but consider the impact on the top surfaces. The hammer head has overlapping sections to help avoid the appearance of joins created by uneven surfaces. Construction is super simple and shown in the attached photos.
I used a combination of Silk PLA to give it the metallic look, however I leave the final choice to your preference and filament availability.
