Description

A small diorama inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana sidewalk pattern and the classic Brazilian “orelhão” public phone. As public phones are gradually disappearing from the streets, the piece also carries a nostalgic character.

Part of a series exploring urban elements from Brazilian cities, starting with São Paulo and now Rio de Janeiro.

Designed as a compact display model and a base for customization.

Model scale: ~1:20 (based on ~2.20 m original height)
Model height: ~11 cm

Happy printing! Feel free to test, tweak, and adapt the model to your setup. Feedback and improvements are always welcome.

Printing

  • Parts split across plates to improve print quality
  • Optimized to reduce filament usage and purge
  • Orientation, supports, and cuts already prepared
  • Supports are designed for easy removal; detach parts gently, pliers should not be necessary.
  • Printing without AMS is possible but may require manual filament swaps and can affect the floor pattern; all other parts print normally in single color.

Assembly (recommended)

  1. Handle parts gently during assembly to avoid stress or breakage
  2. Lightly sand contact areas for a better fit
  3. Apply a small amount of glue where needed
  4. Glue the pole to the base and let it dry fully
  5. Fix the shell onto the pole
  6. Place and glue the floor plate on the base
  7. Once the base is fully dry, shape the phone cable if needed. A quick, careful pass with a lighter can make the filament slightly more flexible
  8. Attach the phone unit to the shell (hot glue recommended for easier alignment)
