Description

This is Yellow  from Rainbow Friends on Roblox.  I created it with PrintMon and spent a couple of hours painting it in Bambu Studio.  I'm really happy with the result.

I'm going to be honest with you, this is a long, challenging print.  The end result is awesome as you can see from the pictures.  My son absolutely loved it.  Here's a few notes if you want to have a go at this print:

  • This was for my kids, so it has 3 walls and honeycomb infill for added strength.  It has thus far survived some epic “battles”  for three weeks in the hands of a 6 year old boy.
  • As the model builds in height, there a parts of the body that are held up by only the supports until it all connects higher up.  The lower parts of the wings are examples.  There is a lot of hand drawn support, and the print speed is kept low.  I wouldn't mess with this.  I had problems with pieces coming off of the supports due to a lack of contact area in the first few layers.  I had to print this several times to get the settings dialed in so it didn't fail.  The print profile is set-up to succeed, not save a little filament and time.  It's a long print anyway; at this point, what's it worth to save an hour or two?
  • Given the above, there is quite a bit of support, and it hugs certain parts of the model tightly.  I'd strongly recommend using a dedicated support material like Bambu's Support for PLA.  It will make removal a lot easier, and the finished surface is very clean.  I have uploaded a profile to use without support material, but it's untested.  I think it will work, but I can't guarantee it.
  • A pair of flush cutters and some needle nose pliers will make getting the supports off much easier.  Cut into the bottom sections, and get it peeling apart.  It's certainly doable.  It took me about 10 minutes, and there was no damage to the model as you can see in the pictures.
