Drying rack fix broken rods (parametric)
Print Profile(1)

Description
This parametric model is a simple part to fix a drying rag with broken rods, which is a common problem. It is designed to fit virtually any standard clothes drying rack. All key dimensions are fully adjustable, so you can easily tailor the model to your specific rack.
Please share your makes in the comments :)! If you like this model, please consider giving it a boost.
Parameters
- Bar diameter (mm) → Diameter of the drying rack frame the hook clips onto
- Clothes rod diameter (mm) → Diameter of the rod used to hang clothes
- Bottom extrude (0 / 1) → Clearance on the bottom for a welding spot on the frame
- 1 = use if the hook sits over a weld
- 0 = use if there is no weld (removes the hole on the bottom)
No tolerances are added to the dimensions. If the fit is too tight or too loose, slightly adjust the values to your needs. Tolerances can vary depending on printer setup and calibration. The hole for the clothes rod has a taper angle of 0.1 ° to the inside, that the rod gets stuck securely.
Assembly
- Press the clothes rod into the hole of the hook. It should be a tight fit.
Optionally, use a small amount of super glue or hot glue for extra stability. - Clip the hook onto the drying rack frame.
The model in the provided print profile uses:
- 12.3 mm bar diameter
- 2.5 mm clothes rod diameter
- Bottom extrude enabled
If you have any questions, ideas for improvements, or run into issues, feel free to leave a comment — I’m happy to help. And if you decide to print it, I’d love to see your makes!
For best results, I recommend printing with a slightly flexible material such as PETG, which provides a good balance of strength and elasticity for a secure fit.
Happy printing! ✨
