Raynox DCR-250 / DCR-150 storage box

The Raynox DCR-250 is a macro conversion lens that adds extra magnification to your camera. I use is a lot when taking pictures of insects with my macro set-up, to give it an extra boost for the smallest critters.

In the field, I am constantly switching between using and storing the Raynox lens, so I wanted a quick means to store the lens. This box opens and closes in half a turn at most, and locks the two parts in place. It protects the lens well, while opening and closing the box can be done quickly. In both the bottom part and the top part, I have installed a 2 mm thick layer of self-adhesive foam. Note that I do not use the adapter that comes with the lens, but use an adapter ring instead (in my case 43 mm to 46 mm). These adapter rings come in various diameters, are cheap and add an extra height to the setup of around 3 mm. If you want to store the lens without an adapter ring, just add some extra foam.

Of course, the container can also be used for other purposes: The inner volume has a 54 mm diameter and a height of 26 mm.

The box comes in two variants: one with ribbed edges for a better grip, and one with a smooth surface.
