Description

This model is a carefully researched and proportioned replica of the WWII-era M3 flak helmet, designed specifically for 3D printing. The helmet is broken into logical sections so it can be printed on A1/P1S build plates and larger. Assembly is straightforward, and the parts are designed with alignment and strength in mind. With basic sanding and finishing, the assembled helmet makes a great display piece, prop, or living history accessory.

One detail worth noting is the ear flap hinge system. The files include a printable hinge pin that works well for display and light handling. For users who want a more durable hinge, the design also accepts a 3 mm × 40 mm steel rod, which provides a much stronger and longer-lasting solution with no modification required. If you plan to paint or weather the helmet, light sanding and filler primer go a long way toward achieving a convincing metal finish.
