Description

Info

This is a 1:1 scale model of the M829A3 APFSDS round. The model is semi-accurate; several modifications were made to improve printability and structural reliability. It uses a screw-based assembly system with fairly tight tolerances.

Once fully assembled, the model has an overall height of approximately 950 mm.

Printing

Warning: On print beds with low adhesion, some parts may detach before the print is finished.

Two fin variants are included:

  • Option 1: Dimensionally accurate fins
  • Option 2: Print-friendly fins

For Option 1, printing the fins upside down is recommended and works well.

The example print shown in the images was produced on an P2S at 0.25mm layer height and 250 mm/s using standard PLA for the Casing and the Sabot, and standard PETG for the Dart.

The Dart can be printed stand-alone or with the addition of the casing and the sabot.

Future Plans

A cross-section style casing is planned for a future update to further enhance the model’s realism.

Recommended Printing Settings

  • Use 4 or more walls for improved stability
  • Infill above 20 percent
  • Enable supports, including a support interface if available
  • Brim recommended
