2,5 HDD/SSD Cage for Jonsbo N1 Mini ITX Enclosure
Print Profile(1)

Description
I recently finished building my new mini homelab using the JONSBO N1 and had two older laptop hard drives left over. Since I prefer a clean look inside the case and didn’t want to mount them in the usual spots, I designed and 3D-printed a custom bracket.
Due to multiple requests, I decided to upload this model.
This is still essentially a prototype, but it’s the final working version. I originally planned a revised version with cutouts for magnets to allow for tool-free mounting. Unfortunately, that idea didn’t work out, as the magnets turned out to be too weak to hold everything securely.
Because of that, this version isn’t really optimized or refined, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Once installed inside the case, it holds absolutely rock solid, so as long as it stays in place – which it does, very firmly – everything is fine.
The cage can be used on either side of the case. The JONSBO N1 top cover can still be mounted without any issues, as there is sufficient clearance between the cage and the case housing. Filament choice is up to you. I printed mine in gray PETG, as it’s a bit more flexible, but PLA should work just fine as well. Drive temperatures are not an issue in this setup anyway, as SSDs and HDDs stay well below 40 °C.
The only tricky part is routing all the cables directly underneath the backplane. It’s very fiddly, and you have to be very careful not to accidentally rip off the exposed capacitors underneath the backplane.
This is the last version and no further changes or improvements are planned. Feel free to use this cage as inspiration for your own designs or adaptations.
