Description

Interlocking domino for festool df500 largest width setting on the df500 and 12mm depth.  make sure to use kreg ¾ - 1 inch screws to hold in place.
MUST USE PETG or some other filament reinforced with CF.  PLA will NOT stand up to the stress.

This is a 3D printable domino connector designed for woodworking projects.

Design:

  • Two-part interlocking joint system
  • Male piece has an upward-projecting prong (starts at Z=13mm, extends to Z=19.5mm)
  • Female piece has a downward-facing cavity (depth ~12mm) that receives the prong
  • Both parts have identical outer body dimensions: 8mm x 30.5mm footprint

Function: The male prong inserts into the female cavity to create a snap-fit connection. The prong features a tapered/barbed geometry that provides mechanical interference - it requires deliberate force to mate and separate the parts, creating a secure joint without adhesives.

Mating Geometry:

  • The prong narrows from the 30.5mm body width down to approximately 19-21mm at the engaging surfaces
  • The female cavity throat (Z=4-10mm region) creates the interference fit
  • Current challenge: achieving tight fit with no play while maintaining assemblability

Typical Use: Embedded into wood pieces to create repeatable, precise alignment for joining panels, shelves, or frame components. The domino connector provides both alignment and pull-together force similar to commercial domino joinery systems.
