Gunblade – Full Scale Replica (FFVIII Inspired) is a fan-made, full-size (1:1) replica inspired by the iconic Gunblade wielded by Squall Leonhart in Final Fantasy VIII
The model is designed as a modular, multi-part assembly, allowing it to be printed on standard desktop 3D printers and assembled into a real-life scale prop. Due to the length of the blade, it is split into multiple sections for easier printing, transport, and improved structural integrity
Blade Structure & Reinforcement
The blade sections include internal reinforcement channels sized at Ø5.4 mm, intentionally designed to account for 3D printing tolerances
These channels are optimized for the use of standard 5 mm rods, either wooden dowels or steel rods, which act as an internal spine:
- Improve strength and alignment
- Allow easy insertion without forcing
- Ensure stability across different printers and materials
Mechanical Features
The Gunblade combines the visual language of a sword and a revolver-style firearm:
- Includes a rotating revolver cylinder
- The cylinder is a functional moving part that spins freely
- Adds realism and mechanical detail to the replica
