Description

This project is a modular book nook designed specifically to fit between books on a standard bookshelf, or filaments on filament shelf :), creating the illusion of a hidden post-apocalyptic world tucked inside your library.

Inspired by classic RPG game environments - Fallout 2 game that I'm a big fan of and consider it as best game ever, the book nook tells a vertical story across three stacked layers, inviting the viewer to explore deeper with each level.

Narrative Structure (Story-Themed Display)

  • Top Level – Wasteland Crossroads
A ruined road scene sets the tone: quiet, hostile, and mysterious. Small creatures and props suggest life still survives on the surface.
  • Middle Level – Cave & Vault Entrance
Descending below ground reveals a hidden cavern with toxic water, scattered barrels, and a sliding vault door mechanism that can be opened to peek inside — encouraging interaction and discovery.
  • Bottom Level – Vault Interior
The deepest layer shows a compact vault room, contrasting safety and decay. Furniture and interior details create depth and realism even in a narrow bookshelf space.

Interactive & Modular Design

  • Each floor is fully modular and can be stacked in any order
  • Floors can also be displayed separately as mini dioramas
  • The vault door is manually movable, adding a tactile, playful element
  • Designed to encourage rearranging scenes and storytelling
  • Or to be used in your mini war or RPG games
  • Includes Terminal and Armchair props for Vault inerior
  • You can find many miniatures to print and fit inside, few i made myself and attached but there is much more from other users - either vault dwellers or power armors, wasteland creatures, corpses or even Victor securitron from Fallout. Sky is the limit and all of them would fit

Designed for Bookshelves

  • Book-nook proportions with strong depth, layering, and perspective
  • Front-open design allows light to naturally reach interior details
  • Works unpainted or painted for extra visual impact

Technical & Practical Notes

  • Optimized for FDM 3D printing
  • Compatible with 28–32mm miniatures
  • No electronics required, but optional LED lighting can be added by the user
  • Clear geometry and printable parts suitable for home printers

This book nook started as a fun personal build and a creative challenge.
If the community enjoys it, I may expand the system with additional floors or miniature packs in the future. Let me know would you like more?

Thank you for taking a look — feedback, photos, and creative remixes are always welcome.

P.S. This model profile image is a color visualization of the 3D print created using AI; the physical model is identical and unpainted."
