Description

This is a set of lids, and trays, for protecting and storing your Phrozen Sonic Mighty 8K trays. It comes in a number of different options, suitable for whatever FDM printers you may have. The full lids would require a larger printer, such as the Prusa XL.

Updates

  • 2024-03-06: Redid the design for the Bambu multi-color printers.

Lids

The lids comes in two basic models:

  • Full: These are the full models, requiring a pretty large print area
  • Split: These are split with dove tails, and should print on almost any FDM printer

The split models, with the dove tail joints, fit perfectly printed on my MK3S with a 0.20mm extra gap. However, on one of the Creality printers, it was a fairly snug fit and I had to use a mallet to hammer (carefully) the two pieces together. That still worked well, and made a perfect joint without glue!

In addition, the lids have one variation:

  • Holes: These have holes cut out to allow putting a lid on without removing the vat screws. This is what I use for my day to day protection of the resin in the vat when not printing.

Note that the text and logo parts are the same for both variants, with or without holes. The .3mf file is setup for this, but if you do your own profile, just import the text and logo parts and make sure to say “Yes” when it asks for it to be a single part with colors.

I'd love to hear success or failures here, to see what I may have to change and fix.

Good design, but I think the gap can be reduced to around 0.1mm. I printed it with ABS, and the gap is a bit too large.

It's set to 0.10mm on each side now, but obviously easy to change to 0.05mm (it's parameterized). You want the Fusion files ?

Replying to @Zwoop :
Sorry, I don’t think I expressed myself clearly. The current assembly gap between the two plates is 0.2mm, but I believe it can be reduced to 0.1mm. This would help improve the stability of the assembled structure. If you have the Fusion files, I can help with the modifications.

I assume you mean the tolerance in the dove tails. Yes, it’s 0.1mm on each side, for a total of 0.2mm. That’s the only “gap” there is.

This is exactly what I was looking for, though unfortunately for me I have the Phrozen Mega 8k which you have not made one for. Looks great though!
