Man’s best friend is now a book’s best friend! 🐶📖

This adorable 3D model features a studious puppy completely absorbed in a good book, wearing round spectacles to help him read the fine print. With its soft, cartoon-style geometry, "The Scholar Dog" is the perfect companion for your bookshelf, bedside table, or office desk.

It pairs perfectly with our "Scholar Cat" model if you want to create a complete reading nook menagerie!

 Key Features:

  • Charming Design: A cute, floppy-eared dog that appeals to animal lovers and bookworms alike.
  • Smooth Surface: Optimized for a clean print finish, looking especially good in Matte PLA or stone-effect filaments.
  • Versatile Use: Works as a decorative statue or a lightweight bookend (if printed with higher infill).

Print Settings / Configuración de Impresión

To ensure the glasses and the book print perfectly, please follow these recommendations:

  • Material: PLA, PLA Matte, or PETG.
  • Nozzle: 0.4mm standard.
  • Layer Height: 0.12mm to 0.2mm (Lower layer height helps with the curvature of the head and glasses).
  • Infill: 10-15% Gyroid.
    • Tip: If you plan to use this as a functional bookend, increase infill to 40-50% or pause the print to add ballast (sand/weights) inside the hollow body.
  • Supports: Required.
    • Recommendation: Use Tree/Organic Supports. They are essential for the book overhangs, the chin, and the glasses frames.
  • Brim: Recommended if you have bed adhesion issues.

I think the design is adorable! However, as the others have mentioned there are issues with the support around the chin area. First print on my P2S failed miserably as nozzle knocked into the failed support. Tried it again on my A1mini, support still came out messy but I let it run anyways. Took a while to remove the mess and hand painted over the rough patches to save it. If the file could be repaired that would be amazing. Thanks!

The first time I tried to make the part, the two supports for the ear and the chin broke during the process. There was nothing I could do, so I let the print finish. Now for the second time, I changed some things in the settings. It seemed to be going well when it reached the chin, the support broke and was no longer in place. I stopped the machine a few times to try to put the support back in place, but it seems the machine "got lost" and then started breaking the lines inside, as if it was "ahead" of the actual design. Could someone help me? I really wanted to make this part. What type of support should I use? I would really appreciate some help! Thank you
