The mold consists of multiple segments that are bolted together, creating a strong and reusable form.

It is optimized for PLA printing and easy post-processing.

🔧 Features

  • Multi-part mold with screw holes
  • Reusable design
  • Suitable for concrete, fine concrete, or high-strength concrete
  • Fill opening on top
  • Surface quality depends on post-processing

🖨️ 3D Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PLA, PETG, ABS
  • Layer height: 0.2 mm
  • Wall thickness: 4 perimeters
  • Infill: 10% (Gyroid or Cubic recommended)
  • Supports: 4x yes, 4x no

🪚 Mold Post-Processing (Highly Recommended)

For a smoother concrete surface, Longer mold lifespan and Easier demolding:

  1. Light sanding of the inner surface
    • Grit 120–180
    • Remove visible layer lines only
  2. Optional: Apply filler
    • Filler primer or thin epoxy coating
    • Final sanding with 240–320 grit
  3. Always apply release agent before casting
    • Silicone spray
    • Mold wax
    • Light layer of petroleum jelly (buffed)

🧱 Concrete Casting Notes

  • Assemble and tighten all screws evenly 32x M8
  • Use dense concrete, not too liquid
  • Fill slowly and tap or vibrate the mold to remove air bubbles
  • Smooth the top opening
  • Let cure 24–48 hours minimum
  • Demold carefully after initial curing

🧪 Test Status

✅ The mold has already been tested successfully:

  • Diameter: ~41 cm (approx. 16 inch )
  • Weight: ~79 kg concrete stone

During testing, the mold worked, but:

  • The first version cracked in some areas
  • The 3D model has been reinforced and improved in critical spots

⚠️ Very important lessons learned:

  • Use very dry concrete
  • Never move the mold after filling
→ This will very likely cause the mold to break
