Description
RUMI K-POP WARRIOR COSPLAY SWORD
You might be wondering why, with many other sword models available, you should choose this one. Fundamentally, my model is a good choice because it is designed to adapt to the height of the person who will use it, and because it is also prepared to introduce a metallic threaded rod, which will provide great strength to the set of pieces. This makes it unlikely that the sword will break, potentially causing injuries in the worst case, even though it is very thin and elongated. If desired, this is described in more detail in the modifications section.
CHOOSING THE NUMBER OF BLADE SEGMENTS NEEDED:
If you look at the images available online, in most of them, the length of the sword is the same as the distance from Rumi's hip to the floor. Therefore, to choose the number of pieces needed to adapt the sword to your height, simply measure the distance from your hip to the floor, and then subtract the hilt. For the calculation, consider:
- Total hilt length: 266.5 cm
- Blade tip length: 218.64 cm
- Blade base length: 168.15 cm
- Blade middle part A length: 181.26 cm
- Blade middle part B length: 185.72 cm
Nevertheless, and as an example, I will provide you with two standard configurations, one for adults and one for children:
Configuration 1 (child 7-10 years): Tip, base, and middle blade A (181.26 cm), with a 71 cm threaded rod.
Configuration 2 (adult): Tip, base, and middle blades A and B, with an 89.5 cm threaded rod.
MATERIALS:
I do not intend to advertise with this, but simply to facilitate the acquisition of the necessary material, as I have indicated in the corresponding section, two locking nuts and an M6 threaded rod are required. These materials have a very low cost and can be purchased in many places such as:
https://www.leroymerlin.es/productos/varilla-roscada-de-acero-cincado-l-1000-mm-x-6-mm-85075646.html
ASSEMBLY:
- Cut the threaded rod. You can do this with a Dremel, or a metal saw, available at any large store.
- Insert the blade tip into the threaded rod of the desired length, and tighten it completely (threaded).
- Insert the desired number of middle blade segments, and after them, the connecting piece to the hilt.
- Insert as many connector pieces as necessary into the blade slots.
- Insert the guard and all hilt pieces in order. Also the interior connector tubes.
- Prepare two-component epoxy resin, and apply a small amount to all piece joints.
- Insert the final piece, and tighten it until the sword achieves a firm consistency.
- Clean up any resin residue that may have seeped out.
- Assemble the hilt end cap with all its pieces, and press-fit it into its slot; at this point, adding a little two-component resin could also help.

MODIFICATIONS TO THE ORIGINAL MODEL:
- The purple parts of the hilt have been shortened; they were too long for a child.
- The hilt pieces have been modified with appendages that interlock to improve grip solidity.
- The entire assembly has been drilled to insert an M6 threaded rod, which gives the piece solidity, making it difficult to break.
- At the ends of the sword, two recesses for M6 set screws have been added, and pauses have been programmed in the print profiles for these to be integrated.
- Two connectors have been added to each side of the blade pieces to improve the finish.
- The blade pieces have been modified so that they all connect to each other, allowing them to be stacked indefinitely, thus achieving a sword of the appropriate length for the person who will use it, regardless of their age/height. In other models, the blade pieces must follow a closed order, so at most, only those envisioned by the designer can be stacked, no more, no less. Here, the limit is the length of the threaded rod we have acquired.
- A detail matching the blade color has been added to the end of the hilt, which improves the final appearance.
WARNING:
This design is not a weapon, but it must be used responsibly, as it could cause injury if used for striking or similar actions.
