About the P-51D Mustang

Introduced in 1944, the P-51D Mustang combined long-range endurance with devastating firepower, becoming the ultimate bomber escort for the Allied forces. Feared by the Luftwaffe and celebrated for its sleek, iconic design, it secured air superiority over Europe and earned its place as one of the greatest fighter aircraft in aviation history.

This High Detail Edition (V2.0) is a complete redesign of my original P-51 Mustang model, featuring refined geometry, sharper details, and improved realism for a more authentic 1:72 scale display model.

What’s New in V2.0

  • Dual-Color Fuselage for a more realistic paint scheme
  • Enhanced Wing Detail with accurately placed gun ports on the leading edges
  • Separate Cockpit Canopy allowing printing in transparent filament or a contrasting color
  • External Ordnance Includes two scaled AN/M65 1,000 lb bombs mounted under the wings
  • Refined Scale Details:
    • Correctly shaped air intake
    • Added radio antenna for historical accuracy
  • Separate 2-Color Cockpit Profile included, optimized for H2D and H2C series printers, but compatible with any AMS-equipped printer

Printing & Assembly Tips

  • Support Removal: Due to the fine details, remove supports gently using a side cutter or needle-nose pliers
  • Orientation: Use the provided orientation from the print profile for the smoothest surface finish
  • Authentic Finish: Silk Silver or metallic filaments are recommended to achieve the iconic WWII “bare metal” look
  • Assembly: A few drops of superglue are recommended for attaching the propeller, bombs, canopy, and USAF roundels

Pro Tip: Gently bend the decals (USAF roundels) with your thumb to match the fuselage curvature before gluing.

I can add it to my To-do list, but first of all I prefer to make warbirds that were in more intensive use during WW2

I really like your print — very few like yours. It would be also pretty great to have a B-17 fortress too.

Thank you, I'm really glad you like my style of models. As for the b-17, I actually started to model it a few months ago, but I stopped in the middle and moved back to the smaller ones. I believe some day I'll finish it
