Bobbin Storage Cup

This model is for a sewing machine bobbin storage cup. It will hold up to 36 L-Style, A-Style, and Class-15 Bobbins or any other bobbin style that is less than 7/8" (23 mm) in diameter. I've included in the design lettering on the top of the Lid to enable you to determine which end is up when opening. The Lid attaches with the base with an easy-to-use twist lock. For larger bobbin styles you can simply scale to the desired size in your slicer or download my Large Bobbin Storage Cup model. Example; for the larger Bernina 770, 1 1/8" bobbins, set your Slicer's X, Y & Z scale to 120%. As shown in my photos. I've printed samples of the Base in both single and 2 colors. Note the profile is a single-color profile for the base.  I've printed samples of the Lid as both a 3-color and 4-color print. Note, the profile is a 3-color profile for the Lid.  The profiles can be printed as a single color or as many colors as you wish.  I used Sunlo Silk Rainbow PLA for the simulated thread Section. I used Bambu Red PLA for the Lids lettering and Bambu Jade White for the bulk of the print.  As shown in my pictures, I also printed a sample using Molen PLA+Wood filament for the top and bottom of the spool to give it an antique wooden-spool look. I used the lightest color I had but would have preferred to have used an even lighter color wood PLA.

The text on the Lid is flush with the top of the Lid. If you want the text removed, using Bambu Studio's Coloring Tool, set the tool to Fill with Edge Detection and fill the text's color to the same as the Lid's Top color and the text will disappear. An alternate would be to download the second profile which has the text removed.

If you encounter issues with print quality of the rounded edge off the build plate, reduce the Layer Height to 0.16mm to improve print quality. You can also add supports to improve quality with Supports set to Normal (auto), Default and with “on Build Plate Only” checked.

2/20/2026: I added a profile that deleted the text on the Lid.

3/10/2026: I added a third profile that has requested custom text options that replace American Thread Co with 1 of 8 Sewing Machine brand names and another with Gütermann. There are 9 different Lid options with this profile. Choice the Lid design you want and delete the others before printing. The 9 Custom texts are Gütermann, Bernina, Juki, Janome, Brother, Singer, Husqvarna, Baby Lock and Pfaff. If you wish another custom text, leave me a request in a comment.

4/16/2026: I added a fourth profile that has “Bobbin” as the text.

5/12/2026: I added Singer Featherweight to the Alternate Text profile. I also separated each of the models to individual plates in the Alternate Text profile. 

5/23/2026: I corrected an issue with the Singer Featherwieght lid in the alternate text profile

5/26/2026: For the Alternate Text Profile, I updated the Font for the Janome Lid. I also added Lids for Elna and Alfa.
