Description

Boost Me (for free)

if you find my creation usefull, please consider taking your time to boost me. It would mean a lot. Thank you :)

A spool holder designed to mount TPU spools on top of the P2S printer for a shorter filament path to the extruder. It's design enables quick and easy assembly(apart from a piece of PTFE tube no additional hardware is required) and installation on the printer. It sits on the shelf that othervise suports the glass cover and can be put in place and taken off in seconds. I also tried to minimize the contact surface between the spool and the mount so there are less chances of feeding errors due to friction between them.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Assemble the legs of the mount
  2. Slide the PTFE tube holder on to the spool holder
  3. Attach the corner joints to both sides of the spool holder
  4. Attach the legs to the holes of the corner joints and mind the orientation
  5. Attach a PTFE tube and cut it to lenght (make sure its long enough so that the print head can reach all corners of the enclosure)

You can find more detailed assembly instructions with pictures in the attached pdf.

PRINTING RECOMANDATION

I recomend printing this out of PETG as the wedged clip connections require the material to be a little bit elastic and not brittle like PLA. I havent personaly tried it in PLA so it might work but i cant guarantee it.

ADDITIONAL HARDWARE

You will also need a piece of PTFE tube. I found that the spare one that comes with the printer (at least with the combo version) is more than long enough. However in case you don't have one laying around I also attached a link to the maker's supply. You don't have to by that exact one but it must be at least around 420 mm long.

If you find any issues with the design, please feel free to leave a comment and i will do my best to try to fix it as soon as possible.

FIXES

I changed the spool holder shape to cylindrical, which turns out (as some of you pointed in the comments) to reduce drag on the spool. It is made as a direct replacement so you can just swap your existing holder for the round one if you printed the older version. The older version is still available as a STEP file in case you need or like it.
