EDC Fixed Blade Knife - Safety Focused Design
Print Profile(1)

Bill of Materials
Description
Printable EDC knife (Every Day Carry) with sheath, specially designed for safe everyday use. The knife fits perfectly in the hand and one immediately has. The blade is based on an original Stanley FatMax Carbide trapezoid blade (0.6 mm thick, extremely sharp and durable due to carbide coating).
The design ensures that the knife fits perfectly in the hand: The ergonomically shaped handle with a slight curve, balanced weight distribution, and subtle finger grooves allows for a secure, fatigue-free grip – even during longer cutting tasks or precise work. Try it out! You will be thrilled.
Screws were deliberately not omitted – on the contrary, they offer security: Small M3 screws (button-head, 4xM3x6 and 3xM3x14) secure handle scales, blade, and sheath element extremely solidly. This greatly benefits quality and durability: No wobbling, no loosened parts during intensive use, better power transmission, and an overall more robust and high-quality feel. The screws are subtly integrated, do not interfere with appearance or handling, and make the tool robust enough for everyday use. The belt clip can be replaced.
Special Safety Features:
- Two strategically placed screws (in critical positions) prevent the blade from accidentally breaking out – even under high stress.
- Robust construction → reliably cuts thick cardboard, thick packing tape, foils, ropes, etc. (no pure "plastic knife feeling").
- The sheath is implemented as an inlay design → blade sits deep and securely and offers good retention.
Important Notes – please read carefully!
- This sheath of the model is experimental. For the sheath, printing will have to be paused at a certain height, and a part will be inserted. I have tested it multiple times, but I ask you to only do this at your own risk! (But I find the design super cool :) )
- Not suitable for children. Extremely sharp blade – risk of injury!
- Always handle with care, keep out of reach of children.
- Recommended material: PETG, Nylon (PA), ideally carbon fiber reinforced (CF-PETG / PA-CF) for maximum strength.
Required parts (not included in print):
- 1 × Stanley FatMax Carbide blade (0.6 mm thick, standard trapezoid shape)
- 4 × M3 button head screws 6 mm length
- 3 × M3 button head screws 14 mm length
- 7 x M3 nuts
Printing Recommendations:
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 40% (depending on desired stability and final weight – 60–80% often optimal)
- Walls: min. 4–5 lines
- Material: PETG / ABS / ASA / PA-CF / PLA (choose a stable material for the blade holder)
- Supports: usually only minimally needed
I am still planning alternative handle scale designs (e.g., with better grip, slim version, different pattern). Feel free to write your wishes in the comments – I will implement what is feasible!
A like, boost + comment is extremely motivating
