Description

2022 Technic McLaren F1 Brick Model - 100% and 200% Scale

This is a printable model of the 2022 McLaren F1 Technic set from our favorite Danish brick company! Here includes a regular scale version of this set, and a 2x scale version!

This has been a labor of love through the past couple months, and the result is this massive 4-foot-long model, perfect for any crazy motorsport fan, like myself. This is in prep for my massive 2x scale model of the McLaren P1, which is still ongoing.

All pieces have been printed and test fit with these exact profiles. I preferred parts to be slightly looser as gluing parts together is much easier than forcing them together when they are too tight. Especially with a set of this scale, please do test fits before printing the 1500+ parts in this set.

** SUPER GLUE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! **

The assembly guide is on the Danish brick website. Google “2022 Technic McLaren F1 Instructions” and it should be the first result.

Feed free to check out my other 2x scale models here:

- 2x Scale Technic McLaren P1 Project (ongoing)

If you happen to run into an issue or have any questions, please do not hesitate to leave a comment! I will try to answer as quick as possible and as best as possible. Enjoy the printing, and have fun with the building!

I’m considering printing the 1x scale version, but I’m a bit unsure about the fit. I previously tried downloading STLs from Rebrickable and printing them, but they didn’t turn out well. Has anyone experienced issues with pieces not fitting properly? I’d like to avoid printing multiple versions at slightly different sizes that end up being unusable. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I would try printing one each of the pins, the axles, the rods, etc and test fit those to the corresponding pieces to ensure a good fit before printing everything else out. The one part you may have difficulties with is the suspension, it took a bit of modifications to get those to fit properly.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve actually tried printing a few of the individual pieces already, but I keep running into issues with one specific part (the one in the photo). The axles especially seem to have really tight tolerances I’m not sure if it’s just my printer settings or if I’m doing something wrong. I also wanted to ask if these parts are meant to be compatible at 1x scale with standard non-3D-printed pieces. I’ve got a bunch of official parts stored away, and it would be awesome if I could mix those in and save some filament. Do you have any extra tips for getting better fits? and is there a special orientation that I have to print a few pieces to have strength and functionality. Also, what kind of post-processing would you recommend to make assembly easier (like sanding, etc.)?

I did model the pieces, shown in the 1x print profiles, so they should theoretically be compatible with standard scale parts. As for that specific part, I would try increasing the wall count or printing the part horizontally instead of vertically. I did have pretty tight tolerances with that part but it did turn out to be okay. Please let me know if you get good results, I'm happy to help!

Yes, all 3 profiles would need to be printed. I apologize for the 2x scale not being available for the A1 mini yet, but I can do that soon!
