Description

Fully parametric: adjust the dimensions for the coupling nut, plug shell, and wire entry to suit your setup. Ideal for protecting exposed plugs or tidying up cable ends. Default sizing fits common GX16‑style connectors.

Easy to adapt for other connector sizes — just tweak the parameters.

Prints well in PETG and TPU 95A. If printing in TPU, it’s best to invert the model so the supports form on the outside.

Why I Made This

I designed this cover to protect the aviation connectors on the fuse box of my boat. The connectors sit in a spot where they could be exposed to moisture, dust, and the occasional splash, so I wanted a simple way to enclose them without changing the wiring. Printing the cover in TPU gives it a bit of flexibility and adds extra protection from the elements, while still fitting securely over the connector body. If you have a similar setup — especially in marine or outdoor environments — this cover can help keep things tidy and shielded.

Tips & Common Issues

Clean print bed

Make sure the print surface is clean and free from grease or fingerprints. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol before printing to ensure good first‑layer adhesion.

Dry filament

PETG and TPU both absorb moisture, which can cause stringing, blobs, and weak layer bonding. If you hear popping or see steam, dry your filament before printing.

Check dimensional accuracy

If your printer tends to print holes undersized, you may want to slightly increase the inner diameters in the parameters. Aviation connectors are tight‑tolerance parts, so a 0.2–0.3 mm adjustment can make a big difference.

Print orientation matters

For TPU: invert the model so supports form on the outside.
For PETG: upright printing usually gives the cleanest internal bore.
