Modular Magnetic Movement Trays – Flat (No Rims)

Modular magnetic movement trays designed for The Old World, Kings of War and other rank & file tabletop wargames.

These trays are flat (no rims) and designed to magnetically hold miniatures in place, improving stability during movement, transport, and gameplay.

The system is modular and will be expanded over time with additional sizes and variants, increasing compatibility with different unit types and base sizes.

Magnet Recommendations for figure:

• Minimum recommended magnet size:
  Ø4 mm – suitable for light infantry miniatures
• Heavier miniatures:
  • one larger magnet
    or
  • two smaller magnets per base

This allows you to fine-tune magnetic strength depending on the weight of the miniature.

Magnet Placement & Iron Disc Alignment

• Magnet holes in the tray are positioned directly under each base slot
• Placement is aligned with centrally mounted iron discs inside the bases
• Ensures reliable and consistent magnetic contact for every model in the unit

Tray Magnet Preparation

Bottom of tray:

• Holes for neodymium magnets
• Supported magnet sizes:
  10×5×1 mm or 10×10×1 mm

Inside of tray (top side):

• Designed for galvanized iron discs
• Exact disc type depends on tray version

You may source discs from another supplier — please verify that the material is magnetic.

Printing Instructions (Important)

• Print the tray upside down
  (top surface directly on the build plate)
• Pause the print at 1.8 mm height
• Insert the iron disc into the tray
• Resume printing to fully enclose the disc

This method ensures:

• flat top surface
• secure disc placement
• clean and durable final print
